In 2003, the State of Delaware
retained our firm to research aquatic options
to determine the feasibility of constructing a
competitive aquatic center in suburban Wilmington,
DE. The purpose of the Facility Impact Study was
to identify and evaluate current aquatic recreation
programming and facilities, both locally and nationally,
and to establish needs analysis and programming
in a preparatory, comprehensive analysis. Two
facility natatoriums were developed with compatible
amenities for the proposed Delaware Aquatic Center:
one included a 50 Meter x 25 Yard competitive
pool and a warm up pool that would also function
as a therapy pool; the other concept included
a 25 Meter x 25 Yard competitive pool and a leisure
pool. Both concepts included a fitness center
for parents to use while waiting for their children
during swim team practices.
